Joseph Steinberger and Faith in Humanity

Dear Maine voters,

I am a write-in candidate to represent Maine in the US Senate. I do not expect to be elected. My goal is to help foster a constructive discussion among Maine voters on how to get out of our decades-long downward spiral of growing inequality and constant wars, and find a win-win way forward for the American people.

I believe that government by the people is the way to have government that is for the people, and that government by the money is bound to be government for the money.

We the people are being divided & conquered by that money, which is being spent to make us distrust each other. If we cannot trust each other, democracy will die.

Faith in Humanity is the way forward: We must believe in ourselves and each other, have love and mutual respect, not hate and censure.

Peace in the world, an economy that is fair and open to everyone’s enterprise, public health, free opportunities for education at all levels, economic security and a home for every family; all this is possible.

The difficulty is that all these things are a threat to the money powers, and our politicians are beholden to these powers.

In our US Senate election both the Republican and the Democratic party candidates can only hope to win by raising tens of millions of dollars. If they propose any reform that threatens the interests of the money powers - the military industry, the medical industry, the education industry, the food industry, etc. - they will not only lose their funding, that funding will go to their opponent. The candidates are both good people, but the system they are stuck in is corrupt.

This letter is a first page in a website that I hope will be a forum for ideas - yours and mine, Meanwhile, please give me a call if you have ideas to share.

Yours truly,
Joseph Steinberger
